The Craft Behind the Product

On the rolling hills of Rwanda, sisal grows tall and strong for nearly two years before it is ready to harvest. Skilled women artisans carefully cut the leaves by hand, strip away the outer layers to reveal the strong white fibers, then wash and dry them in the sun.

The fibers are dyed using natural Rwandan tea for warm, earthy tones or colored in small batches in our color lab to create custom designs. Once the sisal is ready, the weaving begins.

Using a needle and thread, each woman carefully stitches coils of sisal around a bundle of natural fibers, building the trivet one stitch at a time. Every pattern reflects her skill, patience, and attention to detail. Each trivet takes about two days to complete, transforming simple natural materials into a beautiful piece that is both practical and timeless.

More than a way to protect your table, each trivet represents the craftsmanship, resilience, and creativity of the women who made it.

Style Tips

Designed to be both beautiful and functional, these trivets protect your surfaces while adding handmade texture to your home. Use them on your table as a trivet, hang them as part of a woven basket wall, or display them as a standalone accent piece.

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and do not submerge in water.

Each piece is unique; slight variations in size, shape, and shade are expected and part of its handmade character.
