Handcrafted Details
All of our woven bowls are created from dyed natural sisal fibers woven over a core of forest grasses. The weavers begin in the middle of the bowl, carefully threading the sisal around and around to create this beautiful design. The tea color is created when the naturally-white sisal fibers are steeped in Rwandan-grown tea leaves!
Celebrate your love for people, resilience and beauty with our artisan-made home décor and gifts. Azizi Life is committed to loving, fair trade, ethical relationships. A portion of profit is donated to benefit our community impact projects.

The Handcrafted Details
- Our hand woven trays and bowls are crafted from natural sisal fibers threaded over a core of locally-gathered forest grasses.
- Artisans work 1-2 days to weave a small bowl, 2-3 days to weave a medium bowl, and 5-7 days to weave a large tray.
- Care: Wipe with a dry cloth.
- Note: Azizi Life goods are crafted from natural and locally-available raw materials. As such, each product is unique and may vary slightly in size or shade of color. Woven products exposed to sun or water may fade or become more malleable with time.

- Azizi Life is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and committed to fair trade principles.
- Every product supports our community impact projects.
- Also available in Rwanda at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
The Craft Behind the Product
On the rolling hills of Rwanda, the sisal plant grows tall and strong. It takes nearly two years before the plant is ready to harvest. With a steady hand, a woman artisan carefully cuts one of its long, spiky leaves with a machete, leaving the plant to continue growing.
The green outer layers are stripped away by hand using water and skill, revealing the strong natural fibers beneath. The fibers are washed, dried, and prepared for weaving.
Some sisal receives its beautiful golden color from an unexpected source—Rwandan tea. The fibers are dipped in locally grown tea, creating a warm, natural tone. Other colors are dyed in our color lab, where sisal is carefully colored in small batches to achieve the perfect shade for each design.
Then the weaving begins. Using a needle and sisal thread, she stitches tiny coils around a bundle of natural grasses, building each piece from the center outward. Every bowl is woven by hand, one stitch at a time.
A single bowl can take several days and thousands of individual stitches to complete. Behind every finished piece is a skilled woman artisan whose creativity, patience, and craftsmanship transform a simple plant into something beautiful, functional, and made to last.
Style Tips
Arrange your basket wall set just as we’ve shown it, or create your own masterpiece. Place the pieces close together for a collected look or spread them out for a more open display. You can even add more bowls and trivets from our collection to create a basket wall that is uniquely yours.
Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and do not submerge in water.
Each piece is unique; slight variations in size, shape, and shade are expected and part of its handmade character.
