The Craft Behind the Product
On the rolling hills of Rwanda, sisal grows tall and strong for nearly two years before it is ready to harvest. Skilled women artisans carefully cut the leaves by hand, strip away the outer layers to reveal the strong white fibers, then wash and dry them in the sun.
The fibers are dyed using natural Rwandan tea for warm, earthy tones or colored in small batches in our color lab to create custom designs. Once the sisal is ready, the weaving begins.
With a needle and thread, each woman carefully weaves and shapes the sisal fibers by hand, transforming natural materials into a small piece of art. Every detail is created with patience and skill, from the first stitch to the final shape.
More than a decoration, each ornament carries the story of the artisan who made it and the beauty of Rwanda’s handcrafted traditions. Whether displayed on your tree, gifted to someone special, or enjoyed year after year, it brings a reminder of the hands and hearts behind every piece.
