On the hillsides of Rwanda, banana plants provide more than fruit—they also provide the natural fibers used to create beautiful handcrafted pieces for the home. After harvesting the leaves and stems, artisans carefully strip, dry, and prepare the fibers before beginning the weaving process.

With practiced hands, each artisan patiently weaves the fibers together, transforming simple plant materials into pieces that are both beautiful and functional. Whether creating a tote, tray, or basket, every weave reflects skill, patience, and careful craftsmanship.

One of the most remarkable parts of the process is that the banana plant continues to grow after the fibers are harvested, making it a renewable resource that can be enjoyed again and again.

More than a handcrafted piece, what you hold represents the creativity, resilience, and dedication of the artisan who made it. Through their work, natural materials become lasting pieces for your home while creating opportunities for families and communities across Rwanda.

Use the Banana Panel Nesting Cubes to organize shelves, baskets, closets, or everyday essentials while adding natural texture to your space. Nest them together when not in use, or use each size separately for storage throughout your home. The warm banana fiber panels make them beautiful enough to leave on display.

Wipe with a damp cloth; avoid submerging in water; dry in the sun.
